The HKAPI is in close contact with industry organizations in the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the Asia Pacific region.

Apart from being a member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA) since 1970, HKAPI is also been a member of the steering committee of the Asia Partnership Conference of Pharmaceutical Associations (APAC) since its establishment in 2011.

Members of APAC aim to develop a strategic roadmap for collaboration among industry, academia and government with a mission to expedite the launch of innovative medicines for peoples in Asia. To achieve this, there is an annual conference for Regulations and Approvals Expert Working Group and Drug Discovery Alliance Expert Working Group to report on the progress with the proposed future plans.

To foster close collaboration between industry and healthcare providers to uphold ethical standards, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has started a multi-year initiative on Business Ethics for SMEs in the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries to develop their codes of ethics to self-regulate their business practices since 2011.

Ms. Sabrina Chan, Senior Executive Director of HKAPI, is a long-time member of the Working Committee to develop strategies of promulgating Code of Practice across the board in APEC economies. She has also served mentorship in APEC and IFPMA and shared best practices through training workshops and panel discussions at various forums attended by hundreds of delegates from APEC member economies and biopharmaceutical sector experts.

HKAPI also participates in PhRMA Asia Managers Meeting and supports discussion of key topics in Asia, with members’ support to the two HTA forums held in Hong Kong in 2013 and 2015.
