Enabling patients’ sustainable access and affordability to innovative medicines in Hong Kong has always been an important task of the HKAPI.
At the webinar on 21 May, the Affordability Task Force gave an overview of the team’s work in driving the public healthcare system to address the patients’ affordability issues. Through collaborations with stakeholders including the government and patient groups, the task force has continuously proposed solutions and suggestions to improve the Samaritan Fund and Community Care Fund reimbursement system.
Other than the government sector, the task force also looked into various innovative funding solutions which could support patients financially. The pharma-insurance collaboration sub-team as well as the patient support programs sub team have been working with partners in the private sector including insurers and NGOs, to explore ways to provide financial assistance to patients in need.
Mr Andrew Wong, Lead of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) task force, provided an overview of the industry’s collaboration with the HA on GOPC PPP, as well as the updates of the District Health Centre development.
