Guangdong Innovation and Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Forum
HKAPI members recently participated in the Guangdong Innovation and Development of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Forum (“2023廣東省藥品醫療器械創新發展論壇”) on 13 Oct in Guangzhou.
The forum was organized by the Guangdong Province Hospital Association (廣東省醫院協會) and supported by Sinopharm Holding Guangzhou (國控廣州), bringing together key stakeholders from the healthcare industries across Mainland GBA cities, Hong Kong, and Macau. It served as a platform for in-depth discussions on the Measure of using Hong Kong and Macau registered drugs and medical devices in GBA, covering the latest updates, pain points, challenges, and suggestions for the way forward for this vital initiative.
Keynote speakers and panellists included officials from the Guangdong Health Commission, Guangdong MPA, Guangzhou Municipal Government, and prominent figures such as the heads of designated healthcare institutions under the Measure.
Ms Sabrina Chan, Senior Executive Director of HKAPI, represented the Association to be one of the panellists. Sabrina advocated further expanding the Measure to encompass more hospitals in the GBA region. She emphasized the need for regular communication between the Guangdong Government, Hong Kong pharmaceutical companies and designated healthcare institutions. She also highlighted the potential of leveraging GBA’s advantage in real-world data research.
The forum proved to be a resounding success, fostering the exchange of ideas among Government officials, industry leaders and experts. It also showcased the commitment of the participating stakeholders to drive further development of the healthcare sector across GBA.
We look forward to further collaborations with stakeholders for the success of the GBA policy.
